Exhibition: Promised the Moon by Heather Burness

I am exhibiting at the Australian National University School of Art and Design in June and July in the group show, Promised the Moon. The exhibition is curated by Dr Ursula Frederick. It is held in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. My work was begun at the now abandoned site of the Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station (HSK) in Namadgi National Park. HSK transmitted the first 8.5 minutes of the television broadcast of the first steps on the moon. I placed my steel plates overnight on the concrete footings of the site of the communications dish. My project was made possible by a New South Wales Artists Grant (NAVA Grant). Some of the works are seen on the Print Works page of this website.

This project was assisted by a grant from Create NSW, an agency of the New South Wales Government. The NSW Artists’ Grant is administered by the National Association of the Visual Arts.
